My previous vocational experiences are as a tradesman carpenter, a registered  Architect, a self-employed IT Consultant and as a lecturer in computing and graphics at Queensland University of Technology.  I have also recently designed and delivered short courses in digital graphics to students in years 9, 10 & 11 as well as teacher in-service instruction in similar disciplines.

With such a diverse employment history, I am often asked, "Why do you want to become a teacher?"
Two things: Firstly, the fact is, it's what I've always done. Throughout my working life the role of tutor, trainer and mentor seemed always to fall to me.  It's just that I have finally realised that teaching my skills to others has always been the aspect of my work life that I enjoyed most.  And secondly, during the last few years, which I have spent as a stay-at-home Dad, I have come to realise how much I enjoy the company of young people and the happy faculties of empathy and resonance that I have with them.

Becoming a primary school teacher seems, to me, a natural combination of the two
